It was exactly one year ago that SEKURE D concocted these amazing YO!MAFIA RAPS customs and I all but forgot about this amazing time lapse video he made to go along with the shoes. I’ve worn these bad boys to death in the last year, so I’ll have to go do Sekure a few favours to get another pair outta him. Make sure you hit up his SITE…this man is a GENIUS!!!!

CUSTOM NIKE POLO
Yesterday I was fortunate to be invited down to Rose St Market to customise my very own Nike NSW Polo from my girls Lu and Desi. Once you chose the colour you wished to floss it was onto picking out numbers that mean’t something to you. I chose 73 for the year I was born and 05 – my better half’s lucky number. Then it was onto the hot press where in less than 2 minutes your polo was ready to rock. The whole Sneaker Freaker team rolled deep to experience this van mystery – where was Scoobs? With a complimentary lunch and a few slack minutes to chill in between office hours, it was a rad balls day! Read about the whole shebang HERE. Once again, just lucky I brought my camera down yo! M.A.F.I.A. FOR NIKE BESPOKE
I was woken up this morning to a shatload of tweets about my new NIKE BESPOKE – which could only mean one thing…the Nike Sportswear 21MERCER ST BLOG had featured them on the front page of their site. I’m stoked to see the finished product and still dying to see the end result. Loosely based around the Nike Air Tech Challenge (Hot Lava) – one of my all time fave shoes I was all at once shocked and excited by the end result, thanks to design creative Israel Mateo. The off white suede toe vamp is butter next to the gummy stretched metallic. Of course everyone has commented on the use of safari, a fave for all us Nike heads. I made it a point not to over use it, as has been done on a lot of Bespokes of past. Actually, I didn’t want to overdo anything on the shoe, hence its understated feel. The infrapink comes off a tad orange in the images, so I’ll be eager to see what it actually looks like in the hand. There was supposed to be a triple cross stitch on the toe vamp side too so not sure whether it’s just out of shot, or if it was forgotten. Hope not, considering these babies are called PUSSY POP and the triple X symbolises the porno-ness of the shoe.
The lace tags read YO! and MAFIA – can’t see em too good here!
Love the back half of the shoe. Perhaps I should have stuck with a pure white sole, but I can never go past an icy iced out sole.

YO! MAFIA RAPS X SEKURE D
While most of you are aware of my SEKURE D custom, nicknamed the YO! MAFIA RAPS I realised that a lot of google traffic was flying from ‘yo mafia nike’ directing people to this site, but I’ve yet to throw up images on here. So without further ado, I thought I’d re-up this post considering how much interest the shoes have been generating. Thanks to Sekure, a legend on the customising circuit I now have my very own shoe, and in actual fact I’ve been rocking the shit out of these so much, I may need to hit him up for a second pair tres soon. I’ve been in love with YO! MTV RAPS ever since it hit the airwaves on MTV in the early ’90s. I used to stay up way late to record the small segment that Oz MTV aired every friday night at 4am. The colours, the logo, everything about it encapsulates everything I am. So it was a must that these were made and that YO! MAFIA was born. When you hear it screamed out enough or all your emails start with Yo Mafia! you know you gotta market that shit! You have to understand that these Nike Air 180s were painted free hand, absolutely no tape was used when sectioning off the midsole section…steady as they come!
Because these are children’s sizes the upper is actually synthetic making it extra hard for the paint to hold…let’s just say Sekure probs got mighty high off the acetate
Yes, even the logo was drawn free hand, not stenciled on. This kid is a frikkin’ genius!
The Nike Air 180 Force is perhaps my all-time fave silhouette of sneaker, so I’m happy to have been able to combine two of my ultimate thangs and roll em into one fresh as custom
