CRUMPLER MELB CENTRAL LAUNCH

CRUMPLER are set to launch a new retail space in Melbourne Central in August and I’m lucky enough to be spinning at the party! I’m more than stoked as I’ve loved their bags for a long minute and look forward to draining their shelves in the near future! At present the store is still under construction but the launch will take place on AUGUST 18th..so keep your eyes peeled…I’ll have more info as it comes to hand!

CARBON LAUNCH RECAP

And the beat goes on! CARBON literally took over Melbourne this past weekend – and it all started with a mad launch party at Fed Square’s Atrium on Friday night. All the guest speakers were there in effect, mingling with the locals, from FUTURA, BOBBY HUNDREDS, FRANK LIEW, CHOOEE and of course all the peeps that made it possible, the ACCLAIM crew. These guys went above and beyond to make sure the whole festival ran smooth. And what an epic job!!! Anyhoo..after speaking with Danny Boy from House Of Pain on twitter, the HOP fellas rolled deep to Carbon also, connecting with their international fam. A crazy night, with plenty of pizza, booze and of course RED BULL!!! Peep all the pics after the jump

SNKRFRKR SWAPMEET PICS

This past weekend my crew SNEAKERFREAKER threw our annual sneaker swap meet at Fed Square in the city. The event was part of the epic CARBON festival, so speakers BOBBY HUNDREDS, FRANK LIEW, FUTURA, NOAH CALLAHAN-BEVER, CHOOEE and more were also in attendance. It was a massive day with plenty of peeps rolling through, and although I’ve already put some pics up on the Sneaker Freaker site, you can see the entire roll of pics here after the jump…CHECK OUT SOME OF THE INSANE HEAT ON SALE after the jump!

CONVERSATIONS

This past weekend was so epic with so many internationals making their way down under at the one time. I’d hit up DANNY BOY of HOUSE OF PAIN through a mutual friend ILL BILL, who had recently come for a visit into Sneaker Freaker offices. PEEP IT HERE. Anyhoo, I hit up Danny to see where he was at last Friday and managed to get all the fellas connected at the Carbon Launch through the wonders of Twitter!. I unfortunately missed the show as I had a gig myself, but you can peep the insane recap of the show via BOBBY and FRANK – aka Too Many Bobbys. Lucky bastards…but peep the pimpin Danny did to the YO!MAFIAmobile after the jump. And look out for the Carbon launch party pics coming tomorrow!

GET LOW

It’s taken me a small minute, but here are the snaps that DJ Mat Cant asked me to take at his new monthly club night GET LOW. You can check em all out at their dope new TUMBLR site as well! It’s a dope evening with loads of hip hop, party jams, UK funky shit, dancehall and everything else you wanna grind to!

VIBIN!

There’s not much I can say about this day except I was called at 2:30pm by Rashad Smith aka Erykah Badu’s DJ to get down to Flemington to watch their performance, then we’d head over to Sneaker Freaker for some shoppin! If you know me, you know I hate festivals unless I’m playing at them. I’m claustrophobic as fuck so being around that number of people in one space freaks me out and puts me in a shit ass mood. Erykah and her crew were well worth the anxiety though. This lady is the consumate performer – I put it down to the fact that she doesn’t take herself too seriously and knows how to have a good time, all the while maintaining incredible pose and belting out on key every time. Bless. We legged it shortly after her performance straight to the Grand Hyatt to wait for Rashad, indulging in the amaze food on offer at the restaurant. Nothing  a bit of sushi, broccilini and broad bean salad can’t fix!

MJB – RAGGAMUFFIN

What can I say? A lifetime of waiting, a cancelled Aussie tour, a boycott and then a rekindle…Mary and I have been on a turbulent ride but last Saturday night we made peace and came correct on the love affair that maybe only I know about. Belting out all her killer jams, Mary threw down one of the illest live shows I’ve seen in a long minute – quite possibly I’m biased but a Bowl full of screaming fans will agree with me. There’s not much you can say to justify or even explain just how magic this woman is, but when you’re crowned the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, there’s no denying that nothing short of perfection is allowed.  MORE AFTER THE JUMP.

EM MY AY!

Kill the strobe – MIA is in town! This girl knows how to light the fuck out of her stage! I managed to cop a few good shots albeit in full blown glare and red porno lighting. I only stayed for the first three songs and while she seemed almost disengaged (I guess that’s what most call lip syncing) she still managed to put on some killer energy and a cray cray entertaining show. From what I here, there was a lot of biatches bum rushing the stage (I figure this is now a signature move from the singer – detracting attention away from herself but in turn pulling the spot light right back onto how rad she is!). SECRET WARS – HEAT #1

Last month I was invited to DJ at the killer SECRET WARS first heat in Melbourne. It’s an amazing event that has toured internationally pitting street artists against each other in an all out graff battle. With each artist given a blank canvas, black pens and 90 minutes to create whatever their imagination desires, it’s then up to the judges and audience to vote on who goes through to the next round. Check out all the party pics HERE…and stay tuned for more heats coming up!
