Perhaps one of the most influential hip hop MCs/producer/beat maker/party starter representing the ladies and making a mark on my career as a DJ is MISSY ELLIOTT. I find myself playing at least one track of hers per gig (I can only say the same for Arrested Development and MJ), so I thought it was bible that I make a MISSY mix. Her catalogue is so extensive that choosing the right songs for this proved to be an easy and hard task all at once. It all started when I heard Tina Turner’s “I Can’t Stand The Rain” track earlier this year (sampled by Missy in ‘The Rain”) – the idea came into my head to do a sweet little ode to the Virginian MC so it’s been a while coming, but it’s here. I must admit, some of the mixing is loose, only because I record completely live, no bells and whistles and like to keep the raw element of live DJng in my sets. That and I have no idea how to edit. It astounds me the amount of DJ mixes I’ve heard lately that on tape are so super slick yet when I see these guys and gals play live, know for a fact they can’t mix that well. I need to find that program hahah! This was a one take, first take wonder. I may remix and redo this mix, but for now, I love it and I hope all you MISSY fans will go bananas over it! Look out for the YO! MARIAH MIXTAPE comin’ soon!!! YES! For all my other MIXES go HERE!
