I know I know – two mixes released in a week! Wow…I’m really on fire haha! More like after saying goodbye to two days a week at Sneaker Freaker Magazine, I have more time to bust out some flavas and goodness for your ears! This Janet Jackson mix had to be done…after her supposed Live And Intimate shows in Melbourne (which turned into one massive stadium show – everything the artist had promised against) finally went down last week. It was a nervous time for Jackson fans as Janet flew back to LA to be with her family for the Conrad Murray trial, thus rescheduling her three dates into this one massive show. From all reports the show was a bluddy hit and fans were left wanting more, so I stepped in to create this 60 minute opus to the lady, spanning her amazing 30 year career! Download and listen here! I know I know…it’s been a long minute since I’ve released a mix, you can thank those 26 gigs a month for that! This one was done exclusively for Strike Bowling a couple of months back. I spin their every Friday and I gotta say it’s one of my favourite gigs. No deck pests asking for crap jams, their just too damn busy bowling or playing pool…so it’s a nice breath of fresh air to just play pure party goodness for an hour and a half. Released for the first time to the public, this mix is over 90 minutes of old school and new rnb/hip hop madness…so you know you’re gunna love it! This past weekend I was honoured to be asked to spin at the after party for Channel 10′s Program Launch shin dig in Sydney. I guess I really made some peeps get loose at The Logies to be invited back…and after rocking The Offspring Wrap Party a couple of months back, something tells me someone at Ch 10 loves me. And I gotta say, I luuuuuuuuurve me Ch 10. The guys not only have the best programs on TV in my humble opinion (and I seriously don’t watch the tube much anymore), they know how to get dooooooooown! I rocked the party with two of Sydney’s finest female DJs Bambalam and Elly K, and together we all busted out 15 minute sets over the course of three hours. I spotted more than a few familiar faces, and it was dope to have Mrs Sarah Murdoch tower over the crowd to get my attention and say hey. We’d had a quick convo at The Logies and her husband and herself have personally invited me to DJ at their Aids Charity Dinner in October – something to definitely look forward to. I saw the chick that won Masterchef (I’d watched the last episode only, as I was DJn every night it was on). Asher Keddie and I gave props…..it was great to see her again after she personally requested me as their DJ for The Offspring Wrap Party. But enough name dropping – the Moet was on tap as were the immaculate horses doovers! My good mate and Sydney photographer Lester was down in Melbs last month shooting peeps on the street and what they rock on their feet for his I DIG YOUR SOLE MAN blog. We’ve been talking via emails for the last couple of years and after interviewing him for both SNEAKER FREAKER and THE VINE, we finally met in the flesh. I figured I better keep it all promo’d up so bounced on my customised scooter in my YO! MAFIA Varsity standing next to my strategically placed YO!MAFIA sticker in front of the epic ST EDMONDS CAFE.
