This past weekend, Hans DC and I put sleep on the back burner as we arrived in the BNE to rip shit up on four decks with an all out DJ battle at Family. What a heckers night…plenty of sneaker giveaways, proddy, stickers and everything else you could imagine, as well as an all out bogan fisty fight on the dancefloor. We had arrived! Read my full recap on G-STREET HERE.
XBOX KINECT
Last week I was asked for the second time to rock the shit outta XBox with another launch from the gaming console peeps..this time for KINECT. It’s a pretty sweet game which allows users to pretty much control any game by movement of the body. No more stinky controls, no more sweaty palms. These guys def know how to throw on a party! Being flown up to Sydney and taken straight to The Ivy’s ballroom, I was greeted by a sick ass room stock full of plasmas, mojitos and jellybeans.
The headliner for the event was Beyonce’s guitarist BIBI, who let’s just say was pretty fuckeyed the entire night..true to rockstar form. Also in the house was fellow Adelaidian band The Mavericks, Jason Lewis (aka Smith from Sex and The City) plus those buff ass trainers from Biggest Loser. I’m not sure how much healthy activity was going down that night…let’s just say it was hella messy yo! That’s me with Bibi above, but there’s heaps more pictures after the jump HERE and HERE.
M.A.F.I.A. FOR NIKE BESPOKE
I was woken up this morning to a shatload of tweets about my new NIKE BESPOKE – which could only mean one thing…the Nike Sportswear 21MERCER ST BLOG had featured them on the front page of their site. I’m stoked to see the finished product and still dying to see the end result. Loosely based around the Nike Air Tech Challenge (Hot Lava) – one of my all time fave shoes I was all at once shocked and excited by the end result, thanks to design creative Israel Mateo. The off white suede toe vamp is butter next to the gummy stretched metallic. Of course everyone has commented on the use of safari, a fave for all us Nike heads. I made it a point not to over use it, as has been done on a lot of Bespokes of past. Actually, I didn’t want to overdo anything on the shoe, hence its understated feel. The infrapink comes off a tad orange in the images, so I’ll be eager to see what it actually looks like in the hand. There was supposed to be a triple cross stitch on the toe vamp side too so not sure whether it’s just out of shot, or if it was forgotten. Hope not, considering these babies are called PUSSY POP and the triple X symbolises the porno-ness of the shoe.
The lace tags read YO! and MAFIA – can’t see em too good here!
Love the back half of the shoe. Perhaps I should have stuck with a pure white sole, but I can never go past an icy iced out sole.
Baby got junk in the trunk!
ANTE UP RECAP’D
I’m still recovering from my mass hangover, but damn them STICK UP KIDS and bandits know how to throw down. With more penises in the room than a spartacus shower romp, the fellas lifted their game to grind on my mix of party jams n RNB flavas. This one was for all the ladies tho, so it was rad to see my sydney boys jumpin n pumpin to TLC, Mariah and mo’. ANTE UP – SYDNEY (GET THE F%$K UP!)
SNEAKER FREAKER RUSSIA
Look what just rolled through SNKRFRKR’s HQ!!! Sneaker Freaker RUSSIA baby. We’ve conquered Spain, as our first international taste of Freaker, and now Russia comes on board to create their own version of our stealth mag. These will never be made available down under, so this is probably the only place you’re gunna see this bad boy. With loads of features taken and translated in Russian from Issue 18, the Russians have added their own touch of vodka to this killer little volume. Make sure to drop back for pics of the next Issue…as yet we’re not sure when that will drop, but you know YO! MAFIA got ya goods for ya!
If only we could understand what this article was about….looks rad tho
How dope does the Russian print look!
Apparently even though this Puma Cabana Racer is on the cover, there is no mention of it inside!

SNEAKER FRIENDS 2010
I’ve been mad late getting my pics up from SNEAKER FRIENDS 2010 – but suffice to say I got crazy hits on my article for SNEAKER FREAKER which you can see HERE. I’ve been waiting to get a new site done up to showcase the entire collection of images from the event (over 200!). If you want to read about my experience in ATLANTA, rather than repeat myself, just go HERE.
Needless to say I met a whole stack of amazing collectors, sneaker afficiados and crazy dope guys (and the odd chick – where the hell were all my ladies at?). Anyway, massive props to Greg Street, Mayor, Premium Pete, DJ Clark Kent, CtotheJL, Franalations, Matt Halfhill from Nice Kicks, the entire TheShoeGame.com crew, KIX Files, Ace, Marcus Troy, Heatseekers Crew, Manolo Prado, Ronnie Fieg, Joe La Puma, adidas and everyone who made me feel so damn welcome! Check out the ENTIRE 200 photos HERE and don’t forget to check out the video HERE
Jordan23s insane collection was so off the hook, seriously I milled past this table over 300 times, everytime seeing something amazing that caught my eye…wholly holy grail table!
A blogger’s powerhouse - (back left to right) Joe La Puma of Complex, Matt Halfhill at Nice Kicks, (front left-right) CtoTheJL, Marcus Troy
The baaawse himself – Mr Rick Ross
Good Music’s GLC rolled through too
One of the funniest dudes you’ll meet – MAYOR – his knowledge of sneakers is unsurpassed!
I have this guy to thank for introducing me to everyone and making sure I was all good! Premium Pete is seriously one of the most down to earth cats you’ll come across. His sneaker game is SERIOUS but he knows he doesn’t need to flaunt it. LEGEND!
Izy from Nike Bespoke (who you’ve heard me rave about in other posts) plus the towering DJ that is Clark Kent from the ATF Crew
The infamous Ronnie Fieg, who made the trip down from New York for the day – how he gets time off from his busy schedule of creating classic kicks and killer Asics collabs is beyond me. Super dude!
Joe La Puma from Complex – another legendary cat who has continually kept ya’ll up to date on what’s the business in the sneaker scene.
At first I thought Marcus Troy was some famous RnB singer, cos he’s cute as hell, but then I found out about his blog and realised he is doin’ massive things in the street game!
Talking about doin’ big things – the scene would be nothing without CtotheJL! An amazingly gifted talented and wise cat for such a young tacker!
Part of Jordan23′s table, this original pair of DS Michael Jackson-signed Billie Jean loafers were off the heez! Amazeballs
The day was rounded out by a killer giveaway with people who were rocking the “worst” shoes going home with new pairs of heat. I’ve never seen so many heads claim their kicks were shite! One minute their trying to break necks, the next their claiming that their steez is crap. Gotta love the scene!
CONART – DONE DID IT!
So this had to be done. At least once in my life. The peeps I ended up staying with in LA (I rented their bungalow out back of their Melrose house for two nights) ended up getting their son Emil to pick me up from the airport – halfway through the ride we got to chatting and turns out his dad who I was staying with was some big shot Motown jazz guitarist having played with just about any musician and artist you could imagine. Emil himself is a jazz guitarist and his bro is in OZOMATLI so it’s a fam with mad fame. Hooked up nicely thankyou. I asked Emil to drive me to Fairfax so I could check out Supreme, The Hundreds et al and he pointed out his friend who had a barber shop right next to Supreme. I’d been dying to get my name shaved into my hair since forever and he was like, ‘go in and see Bruce, tell him I sent you and he’ll hook you up’. Turns out Bruce throws it down in a barber slash graff shop called CONART - the walls are lined with dope art and the chairs are laced with the funniest dudes all singing on point to Chaka Khan and Rick James. I’d died and gone to heaven! Seriously, check out some of Bruce’s jams..he’s voice is like BUTTAH! Bruce USTREAMED my session HERE. I totes got did! If you’re in LA anytime, make sure you stop by and visit the fellas…if not for a mad crackin’ laugh. Solid.
Choose your own adventure
I literally got lost in this piece as I was gettin my hair did. The hip hop album cover art work intertwined with the Bobby Brown running man is genius. Peep brotherly love with Ozomatli makin it front and centre down the bottom
This reminds me of a certain special rady!
