SPANKS PIONEER!

Most DJs will know that technology is moving so fast it’s impossible to keep up with all the new ways you can mix and make your life easier when traveling from gig to gig. I’ll be the first to admit that taking the plunge to use Serato back in 2006 was one of the hardest decisions to make as a spin doctor. Everyone balked at the idea of DJng straight off a laptop without digging through crates to find that next gem. But my back decided the time was right, after lugging at least four crates of records to each gig. And working at Revolver and tryna get them up those bluddy stairs was a nightmare. But even Serato looks old school these days with all-purpose consoles being created that don’t even need CDs, vinyl or laptops. This is definitely the age of ‘anyone can be a DJ’. They’ve made it so simple, you can literally rock up to a gig with one USB key and a pair of headphones and you’re good to go.

That’s all because of the insane Pioneer CDJ2000s. With a new line of products rolling out that consist of what Pioneer call ‘multi players’, DJs can now literally download the software onto their computer, arrange their tunes by artist, bpm, track etc, export onto a USB key and then slot the key into the CD player and off you go. Now while I’m a way off mastering this new approach to mixing, I am excited that Pioneer have come up with a way to utilise these incredible machines to work natively with Serato. The whole purpose of the CDJ2000 is to take professional DJng to the next level. And believe me, it does!

I was very fortunate to get a nice hook up from the homies at Pioneer through my DJ Agency 360…and now I’m the proud owner of two brand spanking new CDJ2000s. The only CDJ I’ve ever owned was a CDJ600 from 2001. Believe me this is one hell of an upgrade. With turntables turning into massive drink coasters at clubs, CDJs are leading the pack as the DJs choice to mix on. I’m excited to spend hours of my days fiddling with all the incredible features (I’ve included a video below from Pioneer, for anyone thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these bad boys!). Pioneer Australia are the leading DJ brand for a reason – their products are super tough, ahead of the pack as far as technology goes and they care about DJs and their needs. I’m stoked to be showcasing their products! And damn they look so pretty, haha!
